The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday fixed November and December this year for the governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states respectively.

As posted on its website, the governorship election in Kogi State would hold on 21st November while that of Bayelsa State would hold on 5th December 2015.

Currently, political activities are beginning to swing up in the two states with the incumbent governors, Ibrahim Idris Wada and Seriake Dickson, seeking re-election.

In a statement by INEC’s Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Dr. Chris Iyimoga, the primaries of the various parties for the elections must hold before 23rd August 2015 and 5th September 2015 for Kogi and Bayelsa respectively in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2014 (as amended).

Political campaigns are to commence on 24th July and end on 29th November in Kogi while that of Bayelsa will be from 6th September to 4th December 2015.

It is worthy of note that the two governors, are having serious issues with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party under which they were elected to govern the states.
