Markets in the entire Ijebu-Ode remained shut on Thursday following the assassination of the Iyaloja-General of Ijebuland, Alhaja Sadia Elewuju.
The 82-year-old market leader was said to have been attacked by six men who stormed her residence in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State at about 3pm on Wednesday.
After shooting her, they reportedly macheted her to be sure she doesn’t survive. She died as she was being rushed to the hospital.
There has been series of high profile assassinations in Ijebu-Ode in recent times.
Recently, a traditional leader in the area was killed.
The death of the Iyaloja has caused serious tension in the Ijebuland. It was learnt that the police have swung into action over the case.
