In order to urgently get the crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) concerning contentious issues with the leadership of the National Assembly resolved, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Friday met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his Abeokuta, Ogun State home.
In seven Sports Utility Vehicles, Saraki was accompanied to the meeting by Senators Andy Uba, Danjuma Goje, Ahmed Yerima, Tayo Alasoadura and former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
They arrived at Obasanjo’s Hilltop Mansion in Abeokuta at about 9am and have been in a closed meeting at the time of this report.
An aide to Obasanjo disclosed that the meeting was for two reasons.
“They are here on a courtesy call. Then the Senate President would use the opportunity to appeal to the former President to wade into the tussle between the leadership of the National Assembly and the APC.
“Remember Baba is an elderstatesman and played a key role in the emergence of the current President Muhammadu Buhari. So it is just right that he is consulted,” the aide who would not want to be named, told our correspondent on the phone adding that the host and guests would likely address journalists after the meeting.
