Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday grilled former Governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi after he honoured an invitation by the agency over issues of corruption in office.

Elechi handed over power on 29th May, but weeks before then, he had started facing various allegations. The state lawmakers also threatened to impeach him.

Elechi was said to have arrived at the Abuja office of the EFCC at exactly 10am following the invitation by the anti-corruption agency.

EFCC had, on 29th January, summoned the former governor’s son, Nnanna Elechi, for interrogation.

Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the EFCC, confirmed that Elechi was in the office.
