The Regent of Akungba Akoko, a major town in Ondo State, Princess Mojisola Omosowon, was Wednesday abducted with a driver working with the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).
The regent was said to have been abducted as she was being conveyed by the driver who the institution had sent to pick her to honour a lecture being organised by the school.
The incident, according to sources, happened along the Owo-Akure Road with the armed men, who were masked, shooting sporadically to scare travellers and people around the scene.
They left the bus with which the Regent was travelling and bundled her and the driver into a waiting car, taking her away to an unknown destination.
At the time of this report, no contact had been made with the palace or the state government.
