After days of hellish experiences suffered by Nigerians as a result of the fuel crisis that hit the country, major oil marketers in the country, Monday afternoon, agreed to call-off the strike and ensure the supply of petroleum products in six hours.
The oil marketers under the aegis of Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) also promised to sanction any marketer who refused to lift the products immediately.
The decision of the marketers was reached at a meeting brokered by a committee of the Nigerian Senate and which was attended by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and some Federal Government officials.
Announcing the call-off at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Downstream, Senator Magnus Abe, said that the marketers further agreed that the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) should revoke the license of any oil marketer that refuses to lift petroleum products across Nigeria.
Stakeholders in the oil sector including PENGASSAN, NUPENG, MOMAN, IPMAN also addressed the press and said they would comply with the resolutions of the meeting.
