A suicide bomb attack on Tuesday at the Garkida Cattle Market in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State has left nine people dead and scores injured.

Garkida is a border town near Borno State and close to the Sambisa Forest, where various camps of the insurgents are located. The town has often witnessed attacks from Boko Haram.

This is coming at a period Nigerians are raising concerns over the recent rise in attacks by the Boko Haram insurgents in the country after a fierce confrontation from a coalition of forces.

Since Sunday, there had been daily suicide attacks in some parts of the north-eastern part of Nigeria even as the Nigerian troops have continued with rescue of abducted victims.

On Tuesday afternoon, the suicide attacker first posed as a dealer of cattle at the market. He later detonated the explosives at the entrance into the premises of the cattle market.
