Just a day after his confirmation as the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase has gotten to work without looking back.

The new IG has dispatched a special crack squad to Edo to tackle the rising tides of cultism, kidnapping, robbery and other related crimes in the state.

Notice of the dispatch was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, on Wednesday.

According to Ojukwu, the IG is greatly concerned about the unabated activities of cultists and other violent criminals in the state.

The IG has thus appointed said the the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad to head the crack team.

“The squad would comprise units from the Police Mobile Force, Explosives Ordinance Department, State Anti-Robbery Section, and Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department,” Ojukwu said in the press release.

He explained further that the deployment of the team was in line with the IG’s thrust and commitment to ensure the protection of life and property, and build a people-oriented police force.

He advised the public to continue to collaborate with the police and report any suspicious person to the nearest police station for prompt action.
