Acting Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase on Tuesday expressed concern over the recent attacks on media houses and journalists.

He has therefore ordered a “water-tight security” around all media houses in the country.

Arase gave this order while reacting to the bombing of a radio station in Kogi State on Monday night. Four people were killed in the incident.

He said the order for security around media houses “is in line with the mandate of the Nigeria Police Force to protect lives and property of the citizenry under the law.”

“The IGP acknowledges the valuable roles of the media to the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria,” said a statement by Force Public Relations officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu. “The IGP further advises citizens to be more vigilant and proactive and to report any suspicious movement or persons to the police promptly for appropriate action.”
