Governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda, has sacked all his Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Personal Assistants numbering over 2, 000.
The only aides he exempted from the mass purging are those he said were working directly under him.
All the affected aides were sacked with immediate effect.
No reason was given for their sack but it is believed to have resulted from two issues, the first being that the governor was not happy with some of them for their inability to mobilise for him during the election.
He is also said to be rounding off his tenure and ahead of the hand-over on 29th May, he is trying to ease governance and put his records in order.
Yuguda, a senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was defeated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.
The sack of the aides was confirmed in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of Political Affairs at the Government House, Hashimu Yakubu, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government.
“The Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda, has approved the disengagement of all Special Advisers (with the exception of the Special Adviser, Due Process).
“Also, all Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Personal Assistants (with the exception of those who work directly under His Excellency the Executive Governor or the Deputy Governor),” the statement said urging all affected aides to hand over government property in their possession to the heads of organisations where they served.
