The Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday commenced the impeachment process of the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, who, in the heat of the general election, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Olanusi has been served an impeachment notice.

The impeachment notice was signed by 20 out of the 26 members of the Assembly.

One of the allegations against the Deputy Speaker who had earlier defected with his boss, Olusegun Mimiko, from the Labour Party, the original party under which they were elected, is that he breached the guidelines for public office.

Apart from this, he was accused of gross misconduct and absenteeism.

Olanusi had said he was defecting to the APC because he was not comfortable with the PDP which he said was a sinking ship.

The Deputy Governor was yet to react to this move against him at the time of this report.
