Lagos again awakened to the intimidating sight of fire on Wednesday when a wild conflagration razed the building which housed the Federal Mortgage Bank at Maman Kontagora House, Broad Street Lagos Island.
According to witnesses, the fire started around 9 am and has continued to rage on.
The fire began when a generator on the third floor of the complex caught fire, torching everything in the third floor before spreading to the fourth and the fifth floor, which houses the bank, eye witnesses said.
Not satisfied with the damage done, the fire extended to the eighth floor by 12. am. A law firm and NDIC office in the complex were also razed.
Eyewitnesses said no lives were lost. Men of the Nigerian Fire Service are currently battling the raging fire.
