The Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Ahmad Mahmud, was on Monday expelled by his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for alleged anti-party activities.

Mahmud, who is believed to have concluded plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), was expelled by the Galagamma ward located in the Gumel area of the State according to a statement signed by the PDP Chairman of the ward, Alhaji Ibrahim Kafinta, and made available to journalists.

According to Kafinta, the decision to expel Mahmud was taken during a stakeholders meeting held in his ward.

Part of the allegations against the Deputy Governor was that he sabotaged the chances of the PDP during the National Assembly election in the state.

The party chairman said further that the Gumel Local Government Area headquarters of the party had endorsed the expulsion.

The Deputy Governor is yet to react to the expulsion. Calls to his phone were not taken.
