The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) on Sunday evening said it was satisfied with the success achieved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the use of the card reader machines to conduct a mock election in some parts of the country on Saturday.

CNPP’s Osita Okechukwu, however said INEC must watch out for the minor lapses that characterised the exercise and work towards it as the 2015 elections draw near.

Osita Okechukwu, CNPP’s National Publicity Secretary, in the statement, said the success recorded in the mock election using the card readers boosted the organisation’s support for their use for the elections, adding that it would minimise electoral fraud.

The political group said its main concern is for the forthcoming elections to be peaceful, free and fair.

“We are making this declaration because in the absence of genuine reason, we adopt a device which has been used to conduct free, fair and transparent elections in many countries.

“Accordingly, we take exception to political parties that are wittingly or unwittingly against the deployment of Magnetic Card Reader,” the statement read.
