The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Lagos, Major General Tamubomiebi Dibi, has said that it was an incisive allegation that armed soldiers were dispatched to the Bourdillon home of Senator Bola Tinubu.

Dibi described it as a mere figment of imagination of anyone to contemplate that armed soldiers had been deployed to Tinubus’ house.

“It is all a ruse as no politician in Lagos, including the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu is under military watch list,” he said.

Operation Mesa (OP Mesa) and Quick Response Group (QRG) have always been on patrol in the Ikoyi and Victoria Island areas, Dibi said.

He said apart from those outfits that are known to be on regular patrols all over the state, no soldiers that he has the knowledge of, are keeping any watch on the APC leader.

“Why should we deploy soldiers to monitor Sen. Bola Tinubu, there is no need for it as he has not done anything wrong,” Dibi added.

He emphasised that OP Mesa and QRG are initiatives set up to maintain peace in the state and as such, they are not keeping surveillance on anyone.

On Tuesday, a statement had been released by the spokesman of the APC national leader, alleging that some stern looking armed soldiers have been stationed close to his residence. When huhuonline.com correspondent drove past the area on Wednesday morning, no soldiers were noticed.
