Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Team in the South West, Mr. Jide Adeniji,
On Tuesday warned Nigerians against voting for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, describing the candidate as lacking the mental capacity to rule the country.
He further said President Goodluck Jonathan cannot handover power to someone whose certificate was in doubt.
Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Tuesday, Adeniji, who is the Chairman of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), said Buhari’s thinking could not align with the current drive for development in the 21st century.
He reminded his audience that Buhari was the one who scuttled Nigeria’s democracy in 1984 by staging a coup to unseat a duly elected President.
He listed Jonathan’s achievements as including construction of universities in states of the federation, saying this alone was enough for people to show him appreciation by re-electing him.
He said Buhari hates Yoruba people and therefore does not deserve their votes.
“I respect General Buhari; he is an elderly man, but Buhari does not have the mental capability to rule Nigeria,” Adeniji said.
“Some people ruled Nigeria and did not build anything, they did not do anything to uplift the standard of education.
“No way, President Jonathan won’t hand over power to an S75 holder. His certificate is in doubt. Is that the kind of leader Nigeria needs now? No.”
Adeniji claimed that Buhari once shocked the then Governor of Oyo State, Lam Adesina, when as the head of a delegation to the state to assess the level of destruction that resulted from a clash between the people and some Fulanis when he said he only came on behalf of the Fulanis and not the Yoruba victims of the clash.
He said a person who could say that is not fit to lead a country like Nigeria, adding that the Yoruba people would not be deceived by the choice of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as Buhari’s running mate.
