Mrs. Olapeju Fasonu, the 87-year old mother of a former Commissioner for Agriculture in Ondo State, Chief Bunmi Fasonu, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
The octogenarian was kidnapped on Sunday around 9pm at her residence at the Araromi-Obu area of Odigbo Local Government Area in the State.
Mr. Tayo Ikujuni, a member of the family who broke the news on Monday, said the old woman lived at 35 Ajewole Street, Araromi-Obu, before her abduction.
He further disclosed that she was abducted in the presence of two of her relatives.
According to him, three gunmen scaled the fence of the house, over-powered the occupants and took the woman away in a waiting car.
He said the victim was suffering from malaria when she was abducted.
Though the incident has been reported to the police in the state, the whereabouts of the woman is yet to be known.
The abductors are also yet to establish communication with the family.
Confirming the incident, Isaac Eke, the state Commissioner of Police, said his men were working to get the abductors.
