…He is already senile, Fayose insists
The Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), has discredited the purported report said to have emanated from the hospital to the effect that General Muhammadu Buhari is stricken with cancer, the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation has said.
A statement released by the Directorate of Media and Publicity of the APC Campaign, Garba Shehu on Saturday described as disdainful, distractive, mischievous, fake and fallacious the trending news report of an alleged prostate cancer condition of its presidential flag bearer, Buhari being credited to a source from the renowned teaching hospital.
“It (report of cancer) is untrue and condescending of its exponents,” Shehu said.
“I have it on good authority that GMB has not visited the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in the last five years.
“So, how can anyone say that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer last October, barely three months ago?”
He said the story is the highest point of political distraction, malice and mischief.
“The report was not only fake but unfounded,” Shehu added.
“I have spoken to impeccable sources at ABUTH all of whom deny the report and also claimed that the letterhead used was not their regular one, and that Dr. Bala Mohammed that purportedly approved the false Medical Report is not on the personnel list of that department.”
He further clarified that at ABUTH, Medical Report analysis only come from Laboratory Technologists and not Medical Doctors as handwritten in this particular case, stressing that General Buhari did not attend the hospital for cancer or any other ailment.
Shehu also dismissed as figment of the imagination of “wicked and evil persons,” the rumour that Buhari may be travelling to the United States towards the end of this month for medical check up.
He restated its earlier statement on Friday that Buhari is as fit as a fiddle.
However Shehu while dismissing the report as fabrication, said that as a prominent leader of the opposition, many interests across the Globe want him (GMB) over for political and diplomatic consultations, adding that the invitation to the US may not be unconnected to this.
… He is unfit, Fayose insists
Meanwhile, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has insisted that Nigeria and its people cannot afford another “Yar’Adua experience” less than five years after the country had to resort to the Doctrine of Necessity to wriggle out of the leadership crisis caused by the illness and eventual death of the then President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
In a statement released through is spokesman, Lere Olayinka, the governor maintained that Buhari is already suffering from conditions peculiar to senior citizens and the pressure of being president of Nigeria is no child’s play.
“Senility made Buhari not to remember the name of his Running Mate, choosing to call his running mate Osunbade instead of Osinbajo and also referring to Imo State as Ibo State,” Fayose said.
Fayose maintained that former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu knew that Buhari was old and unhealthy before imposing him as the party’s presidential candidate.
He said Tinubu’s evil agenda was to once again deprive the North of the rights to its eight years term as president of Nigeria.
“God forbid, if APC wins, Tinubu’s agenda is to first get the APC presidential candidate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to resign within six months for him (Tinubu) to take over as Vice President, hoping that the task of governing the country will overwhelm Buhari and aggravate his sickness, thereby paving way for himself to take over as president,” Fayose said.
“That’s the reason Tinubu plotted against a younger and vibrant Northerner like Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and opted for a 78 year old Buhari as the APC candidate.
“The question to ask Tinubu and his cohorts in the APC is simple; if Tinubu’s godson, Governor Babatunde Fashola is saying that 57 year old Jimi Agbaje is too old to rule Lagos State, how then can they present a 78 year old Buhari to be President of the whole country?”
He held that the sinister plot is for Buhari to be overwhelmed by the work and die.
“Even during campaigns, Buhari was already collapsing,” he said.
“God will not allow these desperate people to plunge Nigeria into another crisis.
“Therefore, our brothers and sisters in the North should not be deceived by those promoting Buhari as a Northern candidate.”
Fayose charged the leadership of APC to call to mind that the unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigeria and its people is paramount, and waiting for another four years to have the presidency won’t be too much a sacrifice to make.
