An early morning inferno has destroyed goods and properties worth millions of Naira at the popular Balogun Market in Lagos Island, Nigeria on Monday.
Before the fire was put out by men of the fire service, four houses, five plazas and a building belonging to Diamond Bank in the market premises had been razed.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Officials of the state government said it was too early to attribute the fire to any cause. However, they promised that the government would step into prompt investigations to forestall any such future occurrence.
