It was a bloody Saturday for residents of Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State as a female suicide bomber detonated a bomb that resulted in the death of 20 people in a market in the state.
The suicide bomber, a teenager, detonated the bomb at the section of the popular Maiduguri Monday Market where chickens are sold according to the spokesperson of the state Police Command, Gideon Jibrin, who confirmed the incident in a text message.
Apart from the 20 that died, 18 others sustained injury according to Jibrin, and they were rushed to the hospital.
™he text message read: “20 persons were killed in the attack including the female suicide bomber with 18 others injured at the market.”
He added that the scene of the attack had been condoned off by rescuers and security agents.
