The strike action embarked upon by the judicial workers across the country affected activities at the various high courts and magistrate courts in all States on Monday.

Entrances to the courts across the state were shut in compliance with the industrial action resulting in the inability of the courts to function.

In courts where the registrars were found, the judges and other workers were absent.

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), which had been having a running battle with the Federal Government over issues that concern their welfare, had announced an indefinite strike beginning from Monday to protest the non-implementation the 13th January, 2014 judgment of a Federal High Court in Abuja.

On Monday, judges who arrived at the courts could not carry out their jobs just as litigants and lawyers were prevented from gaining access into the courts.

The judges had to return home as officials of JUSUN barricaded the entrances to the courts.
