National Chairman of the Labour Party, Abdulkadri Abdulsalam, Tuesday denied that his party had endorsed the second term bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.
There had been reports that the party supported and even endorsed President Jonathan as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the general elections in 2015.
The National Chairman said that it was mere rumour that his party endorsed Jonathan and lamented that the rumour had gone viral on social media platforms.
According to him, the party has not endorsed anybody.
“If we want to endorse anyone as a presidential candidate, we must hold a convention where we will collectively and democratically agree,” Abdusalaam said.
“No credible candidate has spoken with us for endorsement; the information going round that we have endorsed Jonathan must be considered as rumour.
“Whatever is our intention to endorse any presidential candidate will be made known because we will definitely meet and endorse who ever we want as a presidential candidate.”
Abdulsalam further disclosed that his party does not have any candidate for the presidential election.
