Obviously tired of the failed attempts by Nigeria’s security forces to tame insurgency in Nigeria, the Senate President, David Mark, on Monday called on the country’s security agencies to do everything possible to expose those behind insurgency in the country.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh, the Senate President asked the security operatives to display their intellectual and investigative skills so as to be able to discover those behind insurgency in the country.
The statement said Mark, who decorated his aide-de-camp, a Chief Superintendent of Police, Abel Miri, with his new rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police in Abuja, implored community leaders and citizens to cooperate with the security agencies in order to expose the financiers of the criminals.
Mark said exposing those behind the group was a sure way to end their activities in Nigeria, adding that the unabating situation demands extra-ordinary measures to handle.
“All of us, irrespective of status, must be alert to our responsibilities. Let us rise as one people faced with a common problem to say no to these harbingers of death. Let’s come together and work hard to free ourselves,” Mark said.
“All Nigerians must see these terrorists as a threat to our existence. Nobody should sit on the fence anymore. It is a choice we have to make in chasing these terrorists away or wait to be consumed by them. This is not about politics, religion or ethnicity. It is about our survival as a nation.”
He also encouraged Miri to. Be always be professional with his duty.
“As an officer and gentleman, your loyalty is to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Be fair and firm, devoid of any sentiments, you must be just to all persons no matter the circumstances,” Mark said.
