The Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force, Suleiman Abba, on Tuesday promised that the force would soon consider the elevation of its officers who have degrees of tertiary institutions but have remained in the junior cadre of the system.

He said the review is aimed at boosting the morale of Police workforce in the country.

According to a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, Abba has approved the consideration of Inspectors, rank and file with university degrees as well as degrees from tertiary institutions for elevation to the senior officer cadre.

“The circular to this effect was issued Monday 15th December, 2014 wherein, Commands and Formations across the country were directed to compile and forward the names of all serving Inspectors and rank and file with higher certificates such as university degrees, HND, OND and NCE for necessary processing,” Ojukwu said.

He added that by this action, the IGP has re-emphasised his commitment to improve the welfare of all Police personnel.
