It was a tale of shock in most parts of Lagos State on Monday as 11 incumbent members of the Lagos State House of Assembly lost their seats at the primaries conducted by the All Progressives Party (APC).

The situation also led to violence in Lagos Mainland Constituency 1 where the incumbent, Bashir Oloto, who is the son of the high ranking traditional ruler in the area was floored by the immediate past chairman of the Mainland Local Government, Hon. Oladele Adekanye.

It was learnt that the violence resulted in the death of four people at an area in the constituency called Arena as loyalists of the two contestants clashed.

It was learnt that the violence, erupted after the former council chairman floored Oloto to clinch the party’s ticket, an exercise which the Oloto’s camp felt was manipulated against their benefactor.

Among those who lost the election were the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Abdulrazak Balogun, Hon. Ipoola Omisoro, Hon. Kabiru Lawal, who stepped down for Nollywood actor, Dismond Elliot, Hon. Muftau Egberongbe, Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King, Hon. Akeem Masha, Hon. Ibrahim Layode, Hon. Ramota Akinola-Hassan, Adebimpe Akinsola, Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet and Hon. Suruh Avoseh.

Those who won include the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Kolawole Taiwo, who scored 131 votes to beat his opponent who polled 105, Hon. Rotimi Abiru, who polled 144 to emerge winner against his co-contender who scored 80 votes.

Other winners include Moshood Oshun, Muyiwa Jimoh, Ibrahim Layode, Bisi Yusuf, Sana Agunbiade, Segun Olulade, funmilayo Tejuosho, Abdulbaq Ladi Balgun and others.

In Ikeja,  Jibril, son of the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, defeated musician Kenny St. Brown and two others contenders. If he wins, he would now take over from the Speaker, Hon. Adeyeye Ikuforiji as representative of Ikeja Constituency 1.

Olatunji-Edet, who is currently serving a second term at the House, was beaten by son of the Lagos APC chairman, Otunba Henry Oladele Ajomale in the elections. He would represent Osodi/Isolo Constituency 2 if he wins the 2015 election.
