The last is yet to be heard about the kidnapping of Monarchs in the country as heavily armed gunmen have kidnapped the traditional ruler of Oporomor Kingdom, Ekeremo in Bayelsa State, His Royal Majesty Augustine Ebikeme.
According to sources, the Traditional ruler was returning from an engagement at Kokori community in Ethiope East Local Government Area in Delta State when he was attacked and abducted by the yet to be ascertained hoodlums
Spokesperson of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide Eric Omare has condemned the act and called for the immediate and unconditional release of the monarch describing his kidnap as a sacrilege.
He stated that the monarch’s abduction was an attack on the entire Ijaw nation. Omare said in a statement released on behalf of the group “we regard the kidnap of Pere Ekere, who is not just a traditional ruler but a spiritual leader to the Ijaw people as an attack on the entire Ijaw nation.
Describing the abduction of His Royal Majesty Augustine Ebikeme as a joke taken too far, he warned that if the abductors of the traditional ruler do not release him with immediate effect the entire Ijaw youths would be compelled to storm Kokori Community in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State to affect his release.
The statement further revealed that the Ijaw youth Council will hold an emergency National congress on Friday at Olabrakopre Community, Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri in Delta State which will have all Ijaw youths in attendance. The congress is expected to take crucial decisions over the abduction in other to ensure that the release of the abducted monarch is achieved with immediate effect
