Ahead of the 2015 general elections, seven ministers in the cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan have resigned their appointments.
Huhuonline.com gathered that those who threw in the towel on Wednesday includes the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu; the Minister of State for Niger Delta, Dairus Ishak, the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu; the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike; the Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku; and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Samuel Ortom.
The ministers have all expressed their interest to contest the governorship elections in their various states in 2015.
While Obanikoro has began a subtle campaign in Lagos ahead of 2015, Professor Chukwu plans to contest the same position in Abia state though his candidature is opposed by those who want rotation in the state.
Labaran Maku wants to be next governor of Nasarawa state, while Nyeson Wike is contesting under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state.
The ministers tendered their resignation today and the President wished them well. They will now go ahead to begin preparations for their various political ambition,” an aide to one of them told our correspondent.
