In furtherance of our study on righteousness we will be taking a look at Isaiah 54:17, which informs us that peace, righteousness, security and victory over opposition is your present day possession.
Isaiah 54:17 says … “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Take note of the phrase:”This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their righteousness comes from me.” But pay particular attention to words, “Heritage” and “servants of the Lord”.
The word heritage originates from the Hebrew word “Nachaiah” – which also connotes gift, inheritance or possession.
“Ebed” is the Hebrew word translated “servants of the Lord” It also means “worshipers of God.”
Thus, a literal rendering of this phrase, says, “This is the gift, inheritance or possession of worshipers of God and their righteousness comes from me.”
But what is this gift? No weapon formed against you shall prosper and your triumph over opposition is guaranteed. . In other words, your gift or present day possession is that anything that that is targeted at you, but, which is not to your advantage or to your benefit will not succeed.
Your heritage is that anything which will not elevate or take you to the next level will not succeed.
Put differently, anything that is detrimental to your well-being, or actions inimical to your interest will not be effective because peace, righteousness, security and triumph over opposition is your possession as a new creation.
In street lingo, this infers that all PhD(pull him down) targeted at you will fail.
This heritage is yours because of righteousness and righteousness is the life and nature of God which is imparted to your spirit at the new birth. It gives you the ability stand in presence of God without feeling of sin, guilt, condemnation or inferiority.
Amplified rendering of Isaiah 54:17 says…”But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.
1 Peter 3:12 says …” For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”
You see, anything you don`t withdraw your eyes from is something you have interest in. So God`s eyes on you infers that He takes special interest in you and pay attention to your conversations with him. Job 36:7 alludes to this, saying …” He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous.” Meaning God never ceases to care for and watch over you. Consequently, you continue to be exalted; and are not cast down from your dignity. Hallelujah!!!
