The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the party’s victory in the Katsina State council elections as a clear affirmation that it is on the ground in the North-West and would clear the votes in the zone in the 2015 general election.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh made the affirmation in a statement on Sunday, describing the party’s sweeping victory as a reflection of its popularity and acceptance by Nigerians in all the nooks and crannies of the country.
The party said its overwhelming electoral victories, earlier in Kaduna and now in Katsina clearly indicated it will “sweep the votes not only in the North-West but also in the entire northern region in the 2015 general election.”
Metuh congratulated the State Governor Ibrahim Shema, the State Chairman of the party and all leaders and members of PDP in the state for the successful outing. He attributed the success to the “sterling performance of the PDP-led administration in the state, saying the administration’s excellent performance is in line with PDP’s ideology and President Goodluck Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda.”
This it said was in addition to the unity and oneness that obtain in its fold in Katsina State.
Thanking the people of the state for their support, the party urged the newly elected local government officers to reciprocate by “working hard to ensure that their people not only continue to enjoy the benefit of having the PDP in power but also vote en-masse for it in the general elections.”
Metuh assured that PDP would continue to guarantee strict adherence to the principles of internal democracy and provide a level playing ground for all Nigerians to canvass and pursue their aspirations within the ambit of the overall national interest.
