Security operatives on Monday arrested a young man suspected to have been sent by the Boko Haram group of insurgents to bomb the Centre x unit of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency along the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

The suspects, with some forms of disability, had evoked suspicion with his presence at the particular area close to the airport.

His arrest caused commotion, people at the airport scampering in various directions and shutting down business for some time.

Sources at the airport gave different versions of the arrest story. While some said the suspect was arrested while planning to detonate the bomb, others said he was arrested while protecting the bomb tied to his neck.

According to the sources, the suspect had attracted attention with his movement.

The curiosity led security men to question him about his presence at the area but he gave explanations that were not convincing.

He was thereafter allowed to go but the security men kept an eye on him till they sighted him fumbling with an object tied to his body.

He was promptly arrested and handed over to the airport police command and was immediately taken to the Beesam Police Station within the airport.

In the meantime Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, Mr. Waheed Salahu, has remained silent on the development, saying it was premature to speak without thorough investigation.
