Spread the love

Some Christians freak out at the thought of being wealthy, in their estimation, it is not possible to be wealthy and Godly. They don’t associate wealth with God. They opine that if you are wealthy and born again, then you must have done something ungodly. But scriptures declare…” But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:18)

Note the later part of this text, “for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth” –  Why does God give us power to get wealth? –  The writer provides us with the answer, saying, “that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

Quwm , pronounced Koom is the Hebrew word translated establish, it is also mean to confirm or ratify.

To ratify denotes to sign or give formal consent to a treaty, contract, or agreement, making it officially valid.

You see, God made a promise to our fathers, in order to make this covenant or agreement officially valid, today, he bestows on us the power or strength to make wealth.

Psalms 35:7 say…“Let them shout for joy and rejoice, who favor my vindication; And let them say continually, “The LORD be magnified, Who delights in the prosperity of His servant.”  In other words, …“He takes pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.”(KJV Or “God delights in the well-being of his servant.”(NIV)

You see, under the old covenant God related to Isrealites as servants, not sons, and if God takes pleasure in the prosperity of his servants, what about his sons?

Paul in his letter to the Galatians church, informs us that we are no more servants, but sons, saying,…”And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” (Galatians 4:6-7)

A paradox in the body of Christ is that many believers are yet to grasp the fact that God wants us to prosper. They are yet to understand that it is God`s will for His children to prosper.

Some still hold the opinion that poverty is a characteristic of humility – they aver that in order to be humble one must be poor.

Many who were wealthy before they became born again, but  hold such views, have allowed the devil, who has been stripped of all authority – to deceive them and  rob them of their belongings.

They think that a righteous person can`t be wealthy and that a wealthy man can`t  be righteous. But the atoning sacrifice of Jesus which made us the righteousness of God, also made us rich. To be continued!!!
