Despite serious protest from Ayo Fayose, the governor-elect of Ekiti State, the out-going governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has gone ahead to approve the appointment of caretaker chairmen into the newly created local council areas in the state.

According to his Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, Fayemi also appointed caretaker chairmen for the existing council areas in the state.

The appointees are: Tope Longe, (Oye LG), Olumide Adeyanju (Ifeloju LCDA), Adeyeye Johnson (Ifesowapo LCDA), Dipo Ogunleye (Efon L.G), Tope Ogunleye (Ilejemeje L.G), Aribasoye Adeoye (Ajoni LCDA),  Akinwale Alebiosu (Ero LCDA), Sina Ogunleye (Ifedara LCDA), Kareem Agunbiade (Ekiti West L.G),  Ayodeji Ajayi (Ise/Orun LCDA), S.F. Adewale (Emure L.G), Olumide Fadipe (Isokan LCDA), Ojo Atibioke (Irewole LCDA), Mrs. Remi Balogun (Irede LCDA), Dayo Ajayi (Ijero L.G), Azeez Awolokun (Irepodun/Ifelodu L.G), Gbenga Omole (Ikere West LCDA), Femi Ayodele (Ikere L.G), Rotimi Afolabi (Ido/Osi L.G) and Bayo Akerele (Araromi LCDA) among others.

Fayemi had on 30th July endorsed the bill passed by the State House of Assembly on the creation of additional 19 Local Government Council Areas.

The new councils have not been approved by the National Assembly.
