Following reports of quitting by the head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi after the team’s exit from the Brazil 2014 World Cup, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has offered the coach an improved contract of N7Million a month, a top NFF official has revealed.
The official asserted that Keshi is still keenly interested in continuing as the team’s coach
“He is only concerned that most of the fringe benefits in his contract were not provided and demands better treatment from the federation,” the official who requested anonymity said. “I think the first step was a success and we will build on it because the (2015 Africa Cup of Nations) qualifiers are not far away.”
During his just concluded contract, Keshi earned five million naira monthly and has demanded twice the amount in this fresh contract. It is hoped that NFF will finalise the new deal next week.
The Super Eagles will begin the defence of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) title won in South Africa last year by September in a qualifying stage campaign alongside South Africa, Sudan and either Congo or Rwanda in the same group.
