A man suspected to be connected with the explosion targeted at General Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna on Wednesday, is being detained by men of the Nigeria Military.

The man was apprehended by a military patrol team that took over the area after the explosion. They said the man wore a female disguise, complete with a brazier to make the disguise convincing.

The suspect, whose name  was not given to newsmen, was  arrested while trying to mix with a crowd of onlookers when the patrol team arrived the scene, the Military explained.

A mob tried to carry out jungle justice on the suspect after he was apprehended but the patrol team saved the day by promptly taking him away from the scene in an Armoured Personnel Carrier.

The suspect is currently being interrogated by security agencies.

In another development, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Adesola Amosu has commended the gallantry of the officers who survived the helicopter crash in Bama, Borno State on Thursday.

Amosu commended the men while receiving them in Maiduguri, thanking God for sparing their lives. He commiserated with them on the loss of one of their colleagues in the air mishap blamed on “technical fault”.

He assured the survivors that the government and the Nigerian Air Force would support the family of the deceased.

Amosu encouraged all service personnel to continue giving selfless sacrifice for the defence of the nation’s sovereignty notwithstanding the current security challenges.

He assured the officers of President Goodluck Jonathan’s commitment to providing all necessary requirements of the military in tackling the insurgency, revealing that Jonathan has ordered the immediate replacement of the lost helicopter, and more platforms for the Nigerian Air Force.

Amosu promised that the Air Force would continue exerting themselves to sustain the current synergy between it and the Army, saying this was the surest approach to victory in the campaign against terror.

Amosu  has paid a condolence visit to the deceased Flight Lieutenant’s family in Kano.
