Barely twenty four hours after the multiple bomb blast that hit the city of Kaduna leaving scores dead or injured and nearly claimed the life of former head of state, Major- General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), another bomb blast exploded late Thursday afternoon in the North-western town of Kano leaving one woman dead and about eight other persons sustaining various degrees of injury.
According to reports, the attack which was carried out by a suicide bomber was targeted at a busy taxi park along New Road in the Sabon Gari district of Kano. It will be recalled that a similar incidence happened last year at this park.
The bomb was said to have been concealed in a refrigerator stacked among other loads to be loaded onto one of the luxurious buses that was waiting for passengers. The bus was billed to travel to Port-Harcourt. As soon as the refrigerator was about to be loaded, the bomb went off, killing one woman on the spot.
Speaking to Journalists at the scene of the attack, the Kano state commissioner of Police Mr. Aderenle Shinaba said that the injured persons have been taken to Abdullahi Wase Specialists Hospital where they are receiving intensive care.
