President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday visited the Wuse 2, Abuja bomb blast scene and the hospital where the injured victims are receiving treatment.

Jonathan disclosed that he was having his  share of the pains by the insurgency, not being able to go everywhere he would have loved to go, even as president.

He lamented that while some Nigerians were busy engaging in nation building, some others were busy killing their compatriots.

The death toll from the explosion that occurred on Wednesday at EMAB Plaza has risen to 23.

Jonathan had been on a foreign trip when the bomb blast occured, he had prematurely rounded off the trip, arriving Nigeria on Thursday. He had visited the scene and  received briefing from top security officials of the country including Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, promptly.

Jonathan, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu; his Chief of Staff, Brig.-Gen. Jones Arogbofa, and other top government officials, also visited the Maitama District Hospital, where victims of the blast are receiving treatment.

At the hospital which was under tight security, Jonathan was conducted round the wards which had the injured victims.

He was conducted round by the hospital’s Chief Medical Director,  Dr. Adetoun Adetimehin. After visiting the victims, he urged Nigerians to be patient with the country’s security agencies, assuring that they are working hard to end insurgency which has put the country in one of the darkest phases of its history yet.
