The Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO) has said that anyone thinking about going to the tribunal to challenge results of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State will be wasting his time and resources, asserting that challenging the results of an election adjudged by the whole world as the best in the history of electioneering in Nigeria will be an exercise in futility.
Speaking on claims by some All Progressives Congress (APC) Sympatisers that the election was rigged with “photochromic”, Chief Dipo Anisulowo, the director general of AFCO, in a release issued in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday said such claims are laughable.
Anisulowo said despite APC candidate, Governor Kayode Fayemi’s concession to the defeat, the Fayose Campaign Organisation was aware of the falsehood already being peddled by APC that the ballot papers used on Saturday were designed in a way that made the thumbprints to disappear “within minutes” while “pre-programmed” votes would later appear.
“We are aware of the feeble and childish attempt that some of the APC loyalists are making to discredit the election already adjudged as the best in the history of Nigeria. They are posting on the internet that all the votes that were announced by INEC were pre-programmed, claiming that the term ‘photochromic’ was used to produce the ballot papers,” Anisulowo said in the statement.
“One of their paid writers, Femi Orebe even wrote about it on the social media yesterday, alluding that the election was rigged through photochromic.”
Anisulowo quoted Orebe as writing:
For instance, they deliberately wanted to embarrass the Ewi, whose daughter the Deputy Governor is, by preponderantly sending PDP pre-programmed ballot papers to the palace.
Did you notice that the ink dried on your hand almost immediately? And that at counting, the imprints all came out very boldly, in the same size and colour though blue and black inks were used.
Anisulowo described Orebe’s claims as calculated attempt by the APC people to discredit the election results, perhaps in readiness for their wild goose chase at the tribunal.
“We want to assure them that they won’t succeed this time,” he said.”Nigerians should be reminded of how APC people lied in 2007 that they recorded how the governorship election was rigged even in the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, but the party could not produce a single photo evidence at the tribunal because their plans to do what is known as Morphing and Syncing was exposed.”
Anisulowo also recalled how another paid writer of the APC, Mr Sam Omatseye wrote that ghost names such as Nelson Mandela, Mike Tyson and Joseph Ayo Babalola voted in the 2007 governorship election in Ondo State.
“Therefore, we wish to advise those behind the “photochromic” campaign to desist from advertising their stupidity and hatred for Nigeria, because attempting to discredit an election the entire Nigerians, the international community, especially the US government said was credible will amount to hitting ones head on Olosunta.”
