The New Justice Forum (NJF), a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the party for showing exemplary leadership status at the just concluded national party convention where it elected its new national executives.

President of the group, Taiwo Ayedun, in a statement made available to the press on Wednesday, stated that APC has crossed yet another crucial stage in existing as a merger of political parties, contrary to the retrogressive prediction of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the party will not survive six months.

“We are delighted that APC is gradually beaming the light of hope for Nigerians with the current score,”Ayedun said.

“We are also very delighted that the convention was the most peaceful and well attended any party in the country can boast of in the recent years.”

He expressed hope that the party will sustain the tempo of entrenching internal democracy as demonstrated at the convention, while looking forward to a presidential primary election of the same peaceful and progressive dimension.

“This of course has convinced Nigerians that APC is definite on the quit notice served to the PDP in Aso Rock with 29th May 2015 as the expiration date,” Ayedun said.

While congratulating the newly elected national chairman and other national executive members that emerged, the group noted that the choice of Chief John Oyegun as chairman was a step in the right direction given the vast political and administrative experience of the former governor of Edo State, plus his dedication to  change as well as the strategic location of the zone that produced the party chairman.

APC recently held its national convention in Abuja with 6,688 delegates across the nation. The convention has been widely described as peaceful and transparent.

The ruling party (PDP) has also congratulated APC for the landmark achievement over the outcome of the convention.

Comrade Ayedun said NJF, which has been the vanguard of internal democratic practice and the need to decentralise power system within the party would continue to support the leadership of APC “towards ensuring the change that represents our collective desire at the 2015 poll.”

The group commended Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Chief Ogbonayya Onu and other party leaders for demonstrating maturity and willingness to pilot the change agenda to a glorious destination.
