In a move to woo residents, especially the poor in Edo State, the chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Dan Orbih, has promised that the party would revive commercial motorcycles if it takes over power in 2015.
In a sensitisation programme held in the state on Thursday, Orbih promised to pay bursary to all students of higher institutions from the state. He encouraged the students not to despair, adding that happy days were ahead of them.
He castigated the state government for being the only state in the southern part of the country that was not making bursary available to its students, noting that students from the state have always made the state and the country proud and should therefore, be encouraged.
For the commercial motorcycle riders, Orbih promised that a government of the PDP would allow them to carry on their business without any harassment or molestation.
Motorcycles, especially those for commercial purpose were banned by the state government when many riders started using it to perpetrate crimes including abduction and assassinations. The state government had said recently that since they were banned, crime rate in the state as well as accidents had reduced drastically.
