As a means of seeking relief for Nigeria from terrorists, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has concluded plans to hold a one day national prayer for Nigeria tagged “recover Nigeria”.

According to CAN, the prayer session in Abuja, will be led by CAN’s president, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. The prayer session will be attended by national officials of CAN and members of the federal capital territory chapter at the national Christian Centre between 11am and 1pm on Friday 16th May. The prayers will also hold simultaneously in churches across the country.

The arrangement was announced in a statement signed by CAN’s general secretary, Musa Asake, who also said the decision became necessary because of the growing concern about the security situation in the country.

He said that all state chapters of the association have been directed to coordinate the prayers at designated locations in all states of the federation.

“All the state CAN are implored to please mobilise Christians from all church groups in their states for this programme and it is expected to run at the same time all over the country,” Asake said. “This is to enable all Christians to go on their knees and cry out to the Lord to save our nation from the current security challenges.”

CAN expressed confidence that prayers would help Nigeria overcome its current challenges particularly the reign of terror in parts of the country.

The association urged all Christians to actively participate in the forthcoming programme as part of its contributions to the fight against insurgency in the country.

CAN pledged its continued commitment to the quest for peace and its support to government in its fight against insurgency.
