The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, Sunday morning, said he was full of gratitude to God for preserving the lives of a pilot and his son, Captain Jamil Abubakar, a co-pilot of the IRS plane that crash-landed last night in Niger Republic.
He said this in a very short statement posted on the facebook page of the Nigeria Police.
Jamil and the pilot, the two crew members, were bringing back the IRS plane, a Folker 100, with registration number 5NSIK, from overseas, where it underwent maintenance, to begin operation in Nigeria when the incident happened.
According to the crew, the crash occurred after the plane lost contact at Ganla, Niger Republic.
It was learnt that the airline belonging to Alhaji Ishiaku Rabiu had operated just one plane for sometime now and had sent a second one abroad for maintenance so as to make the fleet two.
