Abubakar Shekau, leader of the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has claimed responsibility for the Monday bomb explosion that rocked Nyanya motor park, Abuja.
“We are the ones that carried out the attack in Abuja”, Shekau said about the explosion that killed 74 people and injured 154 others.
According to the 28-minute pre-recorded video message, which was delivered to AFP, Boko Haram has fighters stationed in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
“We are in your city” Shekau exclaimed, referring to President Goodluck Jonathan.
The new video message by the Boko Haram leader has further fuelled suspicion of deceit by the Nigerians government. Last year, Lt-Col Sagir Musa, had informed Nigerians that an “intelligence report” showed that Shekau, may have died between 25th July and 3rd August 2013.
However, the United States of America has a bounty of $7m (£4.6m) on Shekau’s head.
