The tragic bomb blast that occurred in Nyanya Motor Park, Abuja on Monday killing 71 people and leaving 124 injured, has continued to attract reactions from Nigerians.

Reacting to the tragedy in a press statement, on Tuesday, National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, condemned the act describing it as “inhuman, ungodly and barbaric”.

Oritsejafor expressed doubt about the identity of the bombers as humans, recommending that even if the perpetrators of such evils should be caught dead, their corpses should be fed to pigs.

“I completely condemned the bomb attack on a motor park in Nyanya, a satellite community on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. This is very inhuman, ungodly and barbaric. I don’t even have the adjectives to describe what these mad people have done”, Oritsejafor said.

“As far as I am concerned, the perpetrators are not human beings and in my own opinion, when they finally die their corpses should be given to pigs because they are on the same level with pigs”.

The clergy man prayed for God’s judgment to quickly come on the perpetrators and all those sponsoring them in any way.

“How do you do this kind of thing to human beings? So definitely, they cannot be humans. It is so unfortunate. To make it worse, there are people who are sponsoring them. As the judgment of God comes upon them, the judgment of God will also come on those who are sponsoring them”, he said.

“Anybody who has given one naira to these people, whether they are local people or foreign financiers, the same judgment will come upon them and their children. They will not escape it”.

In the statement, Oritsejafor commiserated with all families who lost their beloved ones in the incidence. He urged them to continue holding faith in God since he is the only one who gives comfort.

“What else can I say to them than it is well”, he lamented. “God is still God, He knows before it happens. I pray that He will comfort them and bring them out of this unbelievable tragedy. God will not forsake them. For those who are injured and still alive, may God give them speedy recovery”, he said.

“I also say that God should not forsake Nigeria; we will come out of this problem. There is enough prayer that is going up everyday which I believe will make a difference in this nation. Nigerians should be encouraged”.

Oritsejafor promised to continue appealing to government, especially the security agencies to work together and share intelligence.

“I know they are trying, I am not one of those that will condemn security agencies because if they have not been doing anything, it would have been worse than what we are seeing today”, he said.

“But they should be able to share intelligence and be able to find those among them that are sabotaging their efforts. There are people within the security agencies that sympathise with this madness. As they discover them, they should be exposed and dismissed from the service. It is very important that such will still happen.

In the same vein, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) condemned the attack describing it as a national calamity.

According to a statement issued by the group’s national publicity secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim in Kaduna on Tuesday, the insurgents were urged to desist from using “inhuman and senseless” schemes but rather explore the path of dialogue to ensure peace in the country.

“The killing of innocent people and destruction of their property is not a solution to any perceived injustice or grievance”, Ibrahim said in the statement.

“In the last six years, Nigeria has experienced many cases of security challenges like bomb blast, insurgency and gunmen attacks, communal and religious clashes that have culminated into huge loss of lives and destruction of property worth millions of Naira.”

The group lamented the present insecurity in the country especially in the Northern region, saying it has placed Nigerians in a state of hopelessness and helplessness and has crippled the socioeconomic activities of the region.

He bemoaned the inefficacy of the several measures that have been taken to curb the ills, saying the frequency of the attacks is now extremely worrisome.

“The measures put in place by various levels of government including a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa to combat the activities of insurgents and terrorists have not yielded the desired result. This is grave and worrisome considering the frequency of attacks which has become a daily affair with colossal loss of lives and property”, Ibrahim said.

The group strongly expressed its disapproval of the dastardly act, urging the government to employ all available resources to halt the menace.

“ACF hereby condemns in strong term the senseless and inhuman act of terrorism being perpetrated by the insurgents and their collaborators against the Nigerian people especially the bomb blast at Nyanya, FCT, where innocent people in pursuit of their legitimate means of livelihood were killed and injured”, he said.

“ACF calls on the federal government to decisively use all legitimate means and security apparatus at its disposal to tackle the insecurity that is gradually destroying our corporate existence as a nation.

“The need for synergy between the security agencies and the community for intelligence gathering and utilisation is necessary in combating this menace,”
