Staff of the National Assembly and shop keepers in and around the premises of the Nigerian National Assembly Complex, Three Arms Zone, Abuja closed work early on Tuesday, claiming there was an order claiming there was an order to evacuate because live bombs have been discovered there.

The bomb scare, according to food vendors around the premises, started around 11.am in the morning when they got an anonymous order urging them to leave the premises for security reasons.

By 1.pm, commercial banks operating within the complex had closed, asserting that they also got an order to leave the premises immediately. Though no one could verify the source of the order, the complex had already been deserted by 2.30 pm.

A senior security assistant to the House of Representatives’ clerk denied that there was no such instruction to vacate the complex.

“It is all a rumour and you know how our staffers here  behave, they just want to go home, it is unfortunate,” the senior security assistant said, preferring to remain anonymous.

Meanwhile, in further demonstration of his condolence to the victims of Nyanya bomb blast, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal has donated blood to survivors at the National Blood Transfusion Centre, after visiting some survivors of the blast at the National Hospital on Tuesday.
