The South East Zone of All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the Ohaneze Youths Council (OYC) for standing up in the midst of systemic and pervasive corruption to state the true position of how the OYC and entire Ndigbo mobilized, canvassed and worked seriously to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan won the 2011 presidential election, yet the lofty promises made then become empty promises.
According to spokesman of South East APC, Mr Osita Okechukwu, the group is refreshed to note that OYC is able to recognize the paradox of the false propaganda being dished out on how the Nigerian economy has overtaken that of South Africa with astronomical growth, while paradoxically the World Bank report officially of the growth of extreme poverty and gross unemployment in the same economy.
“It is important to notify OYC that President Jonathan who cannot complete his own road, the East-West road cutting across the entire Niger Delta in four years cannot provide any tangible infrastructure to the South East or any part of the country. Charity they say begins at home”, Osita said.
“Most importantly, is it not foolhardy to assume that four more years to the same president with the same inchoate and nebulous economic policy of systemic and endemic corruption anchored on the thesis that government has no business in investing our unprecedented oil revenue will produce a different result?
“May we ask why it took the patriotic question of His Royal Majesty, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe on why President Jonathan failed to fulfil his promise to complete the 2nd Niger Bridge made during the 2011 election campaign, before it was hurriedly handed over on Private Public Partnership?
“Secondly, since President Jonathan is our son, why was such important bridge not accommodated in the federal budget, given the poor result of Private Public Partnership in the past? Thirdly, how come the 2nd Niger Bridge awarded to Gitto at N55 billion in 2009, is skyrocketed to N117 billion in 2014? This is the height of graft”.
He warned the Ohaneze Youth Council and Ndigbo in general that President Jonathan is coming again with empty promises and juicy perks.
“Reject him please, because voting for him again means voting for inept and corrupt leadership”, he admonished.
“In sum, we call on the Ohaneze Youth Council to abandon President Jonathan in 2015 presidential election, as he cannot address their grievances nor accommodate them in his Transformation Agenda, because the Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda is anti- people predicated on an inchoate and nebulous economic policy”.
