Director of Defence Information (DDI), Major-General Chris Olukolade on Monday said the Nigerian Military has commenced major operations in Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau States to end killings of innocent civilians that have recently been bedevilling the states.
In a statement released in Abuja, Olukola revealed that troops had already been deployed for a major offensive across the three states.
“The internal security operation is meant to capture and neutralise all the enclaves of criminal gangs”, he said.
“The Nigerian Air Force, Police and other security agencies are also participating in the operation, designed to restore peace in the affected states”.
He admonished residents of the state to remain law-abiding and cooperate with the Military by providing timely and useful information to facilitate the operation in their localities.
