A-65-year-old retired Chief magistrate, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Timeyin, has been murdered in her house at Laderin Estate, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, by her recently-expelled house help.

The tragedy occurred just one day after a policeman in the same Abeokuta killed his wife, five others and himself.

The 25-year-old, who was simply identified as David, was reported to have scaled the fence of her ex-boss and deactivated the security system in the house before beheading the woman.

The native of Igede in Benue State was reportedly employed by the woman only two months ago, but he was expelled two weeks ago for allegedly stealing her phones and jewelleries and other belongings of his boss. He was arrested by the Police while attempting to sell the valuables but was eventually released at his boss’s behest.

After murdering his victim, David again jumped over the fence into the bush behind the house where he hid himself to avoid being caught, as one of the retired chief magistrate’s children, Olumide who had been knocking on the gate, heard the screams of his mum and therefore alerted residents, who contacted men of the Ogun State Vigilance Service in the area.

David then stripped himself naked, feigning madness to avoid being arrested, but policemen from Kemta Idi-aba and Ibara arrested him eventually, cordoning off the area while detectives searched for evidence of the crime inside the house.

Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident, saying he had been briefed.

The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary, while sympathisers led by Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Olatokunbo Olopade and State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Basorun Muyiwa Oladipo, thronged the late chief magistrate’s house.
