Spread the love

Ephesians 1:13-14  says, In whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

New Living Rendering says And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.

New Century rendering declaresAnd in Christ, God put his special mark of ownership on you by giving you the Holy Spirit that he had promised.

And Douay-Rheims rendering says …believing, you were signed with the holy Spirit of promise.

The above texts affirm that when we receive Jesus Christ, God “sets the seal” on us. This seal is His special stamp or mark of ownershipThe seal identifies us as his own and this seal is the Holy Spirit…. If any man hath not the spirit of Christ he is none of his.

The word “sealed” is derived from the Greek word “Sphragizo”, (pronounced sfrag-id’-zo), which means: To set a seal upon or mark with a seal, in order to prove, confirm, authenticate or attest a thing or place beyond doubt”;   Thus, the  Holy Ghost confirms, authenticates, places beyond doubt that the person who has it (in this case, you) belongs to the family of God.

To prove one’s testimony to a person that he is what he professes to be”;

To seal for security or to stamp (with a signet or private mark) for security or preservation” The moment you born again, you receive a brand-new spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17).

This Spirit is fully matured, free from sin and completely pure. Then the Holy Spirit immediately seals you; Just l like vacuum-sealing or canning food for the purpose of preservation.

The Holy Spirit forms a barrier to keep sin out and retain the purity of your born-again spirits. Thus, when Christians sin, it is in the soulish and physical realm.

The born-again spirit doesn’t participate. It cannot sin (1 John 3:9). The Holy spirit in your heart is God`s way of guaranteeing and preserving your status as belonging to him.

Also, the seal of the Holy Spirit is God’s signature or endorsement on you. It is God’s publicly or, officially saying, he approves and recommends you. It is Him saying you are who you profess to be …believing, you were signed (endorsed) with the holy Spirit of promise…(Douay-Rheims rendering).

You see, whatever one signs or endorses, one takes ownership of. Make no mistake about this: whatever is sealed is concealed (as the contents of a letter) your born again spirit, which is the real you, is sealed for security from sin and the adversary.

2Corinthians 3: 2-3 says Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men” Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

The seal of the Holy Spirit is God’s signature or endorsement on you. Hence Paul calls you Christ’s “letter” or “letter from Christ, written not with pen and ink, but by the Spirit of the living God; not one carved on stone, but in human hearts”.

Whenever, you want to contact others, you write them letters. You do this  through emails, texts, tweets, Instagram , What`sapp and LinkedIn. You contact them through your letter.

We are letters from Christ, written by the Holy Spirit, thus inferring that we are Christ’s contact to the world. Christ has no contact with the world, today, except through us, His body. He can’t work independently of his body.

Our very lives are a letter that anyone can read by just looking at us. Christ himself wrote it — not with ink, but with God’s living Spirit; not chiseled into stone, but carved into human lives — and we publish it. Hallelujah!!!
