Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan did not order the demolition of any property close to the yet-to-be commissioned structure built by the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) in Ugbuwangue, Warri, influential community leader and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the state, Prince Agindotan Yonwuren has said.
Yonwuren made the disclosure while reacting to the protest by some women claiming that their wares were destroyed on the orders of the governor.
“The governor only ordered that areas close to the DESOPADEC structure be cleaned up to allow the commission complete work on the ultra-modern shopping complex for commissioning and handing-over in three weeks”, he said.
“Those who organised the women to protest against the demolition are some elements in Ugbuwangue, who collected huge sums of money in the guise of sanitising the environment around the shopping complex, only for them to demolish same and paint a saintly figure”.
Yonwuren linked the demolition of his property, located near the road and the structure on the jealousy and strategic plan of certain people to establish their new political agenda, which is against the ruling PDP..
“Those behind the demolition deliberately misconstrued Uduaghan’s directive in a bid to get at me after I detained them in January 2013 for destroying my property on the same land”, he concluded.
