The government of Lagos State has denied owing former Deputy Governor of the state, Mrs. Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele any of her entitlements as a former Number Two citizen of the state.

The government accused the former deputy governor of throwing up allegations that her entitlements were withheld just because she wanted to win the sentiments of the people of the state and score cheap political points.

Mrs. Bucknor-Akerele was Deputy Governor of the state while Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was the governor. The two, however, broke up politically after irreconcilable differences.

She had told a Lagos-based newspaper that the state government had deprived her of her entitlements as a former Deputy Governor, saying “As a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, all my entitlements have never been given to me”.

But in a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lateef Ibirogba, the government said it does not owe her anything, as the state government had ensured that all her pension entitlements were fully paid while other monthly entitlements were still being met consistently.

The commissioner said it became important that the government reacts to set records straight and for posterity sake, adding that a Toyota Prado Jeep and a pickup truck were recently delivered to her as part of her entitlement.

He said the woman is still angered by her disagreement with the state government when, among other demands, she insisted on the monetisation of the services rendered by the personal staff she employed.

He also said the woman, despite understanding the current economic challenges confronting the government, demanded for vehicles as backup for the ones she already has.

She said there was a case, in the regard, being handled by the court, adding that the government would not explain further, in order not to jeopardise court processes.
